The Road Trip and An Overcast Sky

Which is the best way to ward off monday blues?A good breakfast?curfew in the city? Personally,I'd recommend a road trip.An impromptu one at that too. Clearly,i've been there hence the preaching. So, we set out one fine monday morning for college, the clouds were ripe with the promise of rain and the roads clogged with day before's downpour, the road was long and winding, leading to never ending lectures. An idea from the backseat,"lets go to mussoorie".Heads jerked back to reality, hitting hard as the car bumped along the UP road.A grumpy voice "thats too far". "Nainital?" "Still Far". "Agra?". Silence.Bumps.Nods."Doable" Calls were made, classes ignored, proxies arranged.Pit stops made.Amenities picked up.Ahem.So it began.Outrageous driving, being thrown around the backseat and frantic search for seatbelts. We were quite kicked, the bunch of to have driven off on such a short notice, living on the edge doesn't come easily you see, bunking classes..monday at that too.We made it to Agra in good time, inspite of stopping amidst bushes and a one Rajasthan Hotel for unavoidable reasons. The road to the Taj from the parking lot was treaded cautiously by a tonga, which we paid for riding ofcourse. The horse was inclined on moving sideways, perhaps it had sensed our excitement.'tis not everyday you visit a newly reinitiated 7th wonder of the world. Not that there was much doubt about it making to the list, given our burgeoning population and growing mobile phone subscriber base at that too.Not that im denouncing the monument in question here, just some statistical inference, thats all.
I believe nothing can prepare one for the beauty that confronts you as you set your sight on the Taj.It stands so pristine and majestic, and the dark clouds which formed the perfect contrast on this day, made it stand out even more beautifully. It astounds me, the purity that it seems to exude in a world so dark and flawed.
The drive back was quite boring really, with people dropping off to catch some sleep, and us making it to the highway which most probably lead to Mumbai.
